The gambler taking William Hill to court for letting him gamble away £2m makes a mockery of the Government's insistence that the industry could ensure 'responsible gambling' at super-casinos.
If he loses his case, it means William Hill and other bookies don't have any duty of care towards their gamblers. It means the voluntary code they operate where gamblers can ask the bookie to stop taking bets from them if they get into trouble (as this guy did) is just a public relations sop.
